| As with the Magnet, there were many weeks when Charles Hamilton failed to deliver a manuscript for the Gem. Again, the Substitute writers, delivered the goods'. Although they are reviled by many, it is certain that, but for their efforts both Magnet and Gem would have closed. Many of the writers in this list will be recognised as writing also for the Magnet.
